First there was Planetarium, many years ago at the Casa da Xuventude in Ourense. An exhibition by Adriana Pérez and Alfonso Rodríguez; It collected the works of both: digital montages, paintings and a video installation. From that exhibition the website emerged expoplanetarium.net, where the two artists have been pouring for years and years, and to date, hundreds of creations of all kinds, visual and written: photography, video, digital montage, poetry, collage, animation and a long etcetera that flooded the web. From 2003 to 2024, more than twenty years of creative waste by the two creators.
Now one of them, Alfonso Rodríguez, presents this exhibition at the Dodo Dadá Gallery, where he collects retrospective work, from many years, in the form of collage, painting, photography, video and various publications.
Alfonso Rodríguez, formerly “minux”, is a poet and artist born in 1973 in Ourense who has published numerous poetic books - and not so much -, held different exhibitions and collaborated on numerous projects since he met Adriana Pérez at the Art School in 1999. Antón Faílde
Before, Alfonso was a “squatter”, a “fanzinerista” and already a “poet”, sharing his creations in different places in the city.
Graphic designer, since 2008 he has dedicated himself to thinking a lot and creating full time in the premises that he also shares with Adriana Pérez -Redeiras.net- in the Couto neighborhood of the city of Burgas - although he still considers himself a Pontine but he is not a professional.
In this place he plays the drums, recites, cuts out magazines and paints pretty things. So for years and years, creating a not inconsiderable wardrobe with all kinds of works. Without forgetting the poetic ones.
Since 2014, based on a self-published book of collages and poems - at first as a joke and then not so much - he has formed and formed the publishing house with his partner Saurobuks where they have published some books by similar authors and friends. .
The works presented in Dodo Dada are works that cover different eras of the artist, where his great production is evident, focused above all on the world of collage. Both abstract and not so abstract.
There is also painting, abstract. Alfonso Rodríguez battled and battled against the canvas, authentic fencing matches that end in a fight of flesh and blood that reflects a color, often exultant, that comes from his deepest and grayest brain.
In this exhibition there is also space for books, mostly poetry, published by different publishers, including Saurobuks.
Finally, the exhibition has a retrospective of many photographs that can be viewed on a monitor, with a small but juicy part of his role as a compulsive photographer who travels through the city of Ourense, etc. finding images where people rarely fix their eyes.
Other images that are projected are digital collages and ephemeral collages, these are collage-like compositions photographed and that ceased to exist the instant they were photographed.
Finally, you can also watch a video of short pieces, another facet of the author, with a poetic aspect.
Alfonso Rodríguez had never had the opportunity to exhibit in such a long and wide place 😉
For the presentation of this exhibition they resurrect WordsNoise, a project that had been lost in the temporal space of the pandemic after having existed as such since 2015, and which consists of spoken word and noise, that is with recitation by the author and electric. guitar plus synthesizer by the Beginner Harpist -Luís Real Arregui. Join us this time, live, with projections by artist and colleague Adriana Pérez.
